Two lit luxury candles in smoky gray glass jars sit on a rustic, chipped white table alongside a bright orange mug, red lighter, black eyeglasses, and a crystal sphere. Cozy autumn desk scene with warm ambient light.

Autumn Is a Vibe

The older I get, the more I realize that Autumn isn’t just a season—it’s a vibe. It’s a feeling. The chill in the air, the scent of leaves carried on the wind, the crisp sound of them rustling underfoot. There’s a certain solemnity about it.

Sure, there are things you miss from summer. The last of the tomatoes hanging on the vine before that first frost. The ferns you’ve admired from the window each morning slowly fading to nothing. But alongside the fading comes renewal—mums bursting into bloom right beside those struggling tomatoes, a reminder that endings often make way for something fresh.

Autumn is when you naturally start creating your own cozy space. The outside world is shifting, and that nudge to bring warmth indoors grows stronger. For me, it begins with a candle—a carefully chosen scent that sets the tone. Maybe you think of fireplaces or bonfires, but you don’t need those to recreate the warmth. A crackling wood wick candle can give you that same comforting atmosphere.

As I write this, I’m testing new jars, scents and conduct wick burn tests for next year. The furnace kicked on this morning to take the edge off last night’s chill. I’m sitting at my old chippy white farmhouse table with what’s left of my last cup of coffee for the day, sipped from my favorite orange Fiestaware mug by Homer Laughlin (now discontinued...see my other favs below).

A 57-inch TV glows in front of me and laminator in the background...technology and work blending into the moment. And as you can see, everything is still quite green outside.  Though it’s not the most staged “autumn scene,” it’s real. It’s a vibe. Simple. Clean. Focused. And despite the green on the bush outside and the crisp green of my Christmas cactus, the vibe has been created...just with a candle, it's crackling and an orange mug.

I think back to the days before I started this company—sitting at my desk with store-bought candles that I could barely tolerate for ten minutes before a headache set in from all the toxins. That frustration is what sparked Candl•ogic. And though building this company has been hard work, it’s worth it to create an alternative—to know I can once again enjoy a candle without worry.

So, as I continue wick burn tests and product notes today, I hope you, too, lean into this season. Let autumn be your reminder to slow down from the rush of summer. To embrace gratitude. To savor the simple beauty all around you.

Because Autumn isn’t just a time of year—it’s a vibe.
